Jakarta. Facing the increasingly rapid flow of information, the Public Relations Division of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) is strengthening its staff’s ability to manage public and media communications. This strengthening was carried out through the Public Relations Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) for the 2026 Fiscal Year at the TMC Hall of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, Wednesday (09/30/2026).

The Rakernis serves as a forum to improve the ability of Public Relations personnel to convey information quickly, accurately, easily understood, and responsibly to the public.

The activity was opened by the Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri. In his direction, the Chief of Police emphasized the importance of speed and accuracy of the Public Relations staff when responding to various events of public concern.

“Trust is born from consistent work, honest communication, and our responsibility to the public. Make this Rakernis a momentum to strengthen capacity and develop a more adaptive communication strategy that will have a real impact,” he said.

The Chief of Police also asked the Public Relations staff to understand the character of the public in conveying information. Professional relationships with the media, as well as monitoring of media and social media, also need to be strengthened so that issue developments can be identified early.

With this monitoring, the Public Relations staff are expected to be able to provide responses based on factual conditions in the field and avoid conveying unverified information.

The 2026 Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Working Meeting carried the theme “Optimizing Public Communication and Media Management, Polri8 Presisi Public Relations is Ready to Succeed in the Police and Government Work Plan in the Context of Realizing the Jaga Jakarta Program.”

A number of materials were provided to participants, starting from internal strengthening of the Penmas Sub-Division, Multimedia Sub-Division, and PID Sub-Division according to their respective fields of duty.

The material was then continued by Dr. Devie Rahmawati, CICS who discussed public communication and media management. Meanwhile, Warren Giovani provided material on coverage, creation, and content processing.

The series of activities concluded with a round-up of the material by the Head of Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations. On this occasion, awards were also given to personnel who were deemed to have the best performance.

AKP Endro from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Public Order Management (Ditsamapta) received the award for Best Public Information Officer (PPID), while AKP Aliani from the Bekasi Metropolitan Police won the award for Best Public Relations Officer.

The Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the Public Relations department’s duties extend beyond publicizing police activities. All information conveyed to the public must be clearly based and verified.

“Public communication isn’t just about publicizing police activities. We must ensure that the information we convey is data-based, verified, has a clear message, and is understood and trusted by the public,” he concluded.
